We believe that Cost is impacted by every part of the business, and using a common strategy and shared data set will greatly improve finance performance. Alongside our core consultancy service we also provide the training and skills to develop your in-house personnel to be self sufficient in all areas of Cost.
The Solution
Our City & Guilds qualified instructors are able to deliver our pre-prepared training in Cost Engineering or create bespoke training courses to suit your specific needs. These courses can be delivered at our venue or on site with you if that is preferred. Our courses range from general Cost Awareness courses through to high end 1-to-1 training of your staff as required:-
1) Cost Awareness Training (1 day)
This entry level course is aimed at all levels of the business, and is designed to show how the basic elements of Cost build up, and how this data can be used to improve the results of all areas of the business. It covers Design, Production, Purchasing and Sales in the same way that our consultancy services do, and shows how they are linked. This course can be provided on site and delivered to a range of personnel including management, and covers all key functions of the business. Later in the year it is planned to arrange off-site versions of this course in neutral venues around the country subject to demand.
2) Cost Engineer Foundation Training (2 days)
This higher level course is aimed at existing personnel who work in cost focused roles. Whether it is a new recruit that needs a fast track bump up the learner curve, or an experienced team member that just wants to upskill, this course is the one. It takes the principles of the Awareness Training course but dives deeper into the tools and techniques used, including and introduction into Should Costing and Gap Analysis. Due to the commercially sensitive nature of the course it will be delivered on site, and where possible will generally use industry relevant examples. The course can be focused on a single department or can be cross functional dependant on the client's needs.
3) Cost Engineer Specialist Training (2-3 days)
This is our highest level of training, and is delivered as a focused coaching activity. The first stage includes a shadowing activity and a detailed training needs analysis. From here a detailed upskilling plan is produced with targeted Cost training delivered on a 1-to-1 basis to suit the candidate. This can be delivered to multiple candidates inside the same business simultaneously, even in different departments, and discounts are available where this is applied.
